Hi everyone,

Welcome to Class 8 of the Urban Agriculture Certificate Course from CultivAction Solidarity Cooperative. Today’s session, Post-Harvest Management and Preservation Techniques, will focus on advanced methods in seed saving, food preservation, and sustainable storage.

Class 8 – August 12th

In our eighth session, we will focus on Post-Harvest Management and Preservation Techniques: Advanced Methods in Seed Saving, Food Preservation, and Sustainable Storage. Participants will deepen their understanding of how to extend the life of their harvest, save seeds for future planting, and store food effectively for future use. The session will also include a hands-on vermicomposting workshop and time in the garden plots.

3 – Discussion: Post-Harvest & Food Preservation – Techniques for preserving food for future use and preventing spoilage.
4 – Workshop: Vermicomposting – Learn how to turn kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost using worms.
5 – Garden Plot Work – Apply techniques and care for your growing spaces.
6 – Questions, Comments, Concerns – Open discussion and wrap-up.
