May 17: Building Healthy Soil: Mulching, Composting, Plant Support, and Garden Materials Recycling
Hello and welcome to the second class of the Urban Agriculture Certificate Saturday course. You will find the information you need for the class below.
Below is the plan for our first class on May 17th. Please note that timings may vary slightly.
Meeting at Harpell adjacent to 62 Av. Garden City, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue,
1 – Introduction and check-in
2 – What is a soil ecosystem?
3 – Continue building garden soil
4 – Production of compost and liquid fertilizers
6 – Move to the farm at Sennville:
7 – Watching the plant growth
8 – Starting your garden plot
9 – Dividing the land and assigning plots to each participant to start their own project
10 – Building the plant support
11 – Seeding and weeding
Other activities:
Planting seeds
Transplanting seedlings
Wrap-up, discussion and planning the visits to your garden plots and the third class.
