Mixed Role Farmer in Senneville

Position

• Full time farm workers funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program

• 35 hours/week

• 21.5$/hour

• 8 weeks

Location: the Senneville plot (265 rue Senneville, Seneville)

This role includes tasks like planting, transplanting seedlings, sowing seeds, weeding watering, pruning,harvesting, maintaining farm records, soil preparation, basic tool and infrastructure maintenance, mulching, composting, washing, sorting and packing produce, monitoring plant health and observing pest or disease presence for supervisor guidance. These skills and competencies will be taught to employees. Additionally when they are comfortable employees will guide community volunteers and facilitate community engagement. Employees will also learn about agroecological principals, seasonal planting schedules, crop rotations and plant varieties and maintain clean and organized work spaces.

Requirements

• Be between 15 and 30 years old (grant requirement)

• Have a valid social insurance program and be a Canadian resident, have refugee status or be a permanent resident (grant requirement)

• Be able to work in a team and independently

• Comfortable getting dirty and working long days in various weather conditions

• Comfortable selling produce at our farmer’s market

• A driver’s license

• Enthusiasm for outdoor work, responsible, reliable and initiative taker

Assets

• A driver’s license

• Mushroom growing knowledge

• Willingness to do social media

• Farmwork or gardening experience

• Construction experience for example building a trellis, mixing concrete

• Comfortable using a jang seeder, laying insect netting

Position:

Full time positions funded through the Canada Summer jobs program
35h/week
21.5$/hour
8 weeks

Location:

All day Tuesdays and Thursday evenings at the Loyola campus plot (7075 rue Terrebonne)
Wednesdays dropping off deliveries in the surrounding neighborhoods
Possibility of 1 day a week in Senneville (265 rue Senneville, Senneville)

Requirements:

• Have a valid social insurance program and be a Canadian resident, have refugee status or be a permanent resident (grant requirement)

• Be able to work in a team and independently

• Comfortable getting dirty and working long days in various weather conditions

• Comfortable selling produce at our farmer’s market
